Position Summary:
The school psychologist plays a crucial role in fostering students' academic, social, and emotional success. This position involves conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, providing preventive services, and responding to specific student needs. The school psychologist will consult with school personnel and parents to plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group interventions, ensuring each student receives the support they need to thrive. As an integral member of the Student Support Team, the school psychologist will offer essential services that enhance the social and psychological well-being of children and their families. This includes overseeing bilingual services to maximize family wellness and improve children's overall functioning. The school psychologist will also support teachers by advising them on effective strategies to support students in the classroom emotionally.
Additionally, this role will involve collaboration with P-12 counselors to implement a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the social and emotional development of students from preschool through 12th grade. The school psychologist will work closely with families to provide a variety of parenting education opportunities that serve a diverse population, ensuring that all students have the resources they need to succeed.

Number of Contract Days
Contracts are for a maximum of 192 working days. Typically between early August and mid-June with with weeklong holidays in the fall, spring and for Chinese New Year. Two to three weeks of holiday are typical for the Christmas holiday.
Starting Salary Range
Starting salary will be between BA+2years-443,300 Chinese RMB and MA+20 years-631,202 Chinese RMB
Taxes
All Chinese taxes are paid on earned salary. Taxes from home country are the teacher's responsibility
Savings Potential
Dependent on life style but typical savings is approximately 50% to 75% of earnings.
Accommodation
Housing is provided by the school, typically within close proximity to the school. The school guarantees an unfurnished apt but in some cases the apartment may include some or all furnishings. A person may also take a housing stipend and find their own housing.
Flights/Transport
Flights at the start of the contract and when employment with the school ends are provided at 100% for the employee and their dependents. An annual airline allowance equivalent to 100% of the cost of a ticket between Shanghai and ST Louis, MO is provided. Each dependent receives 50% of the full-time employee's benefit.
Moving Allowance
To assist with moving and settling in costs, singles receive USD 2000, couples receive USD 2500, and each dependent under 18 receives and additional USD 250.
At the end of the contract the same amount is paid plus an additional amount for those one or two additional contracts beyond the initial 2 years.
Dependent Opportunities
Tuition is provided for up to two dependents for a single contract and three dependents for couples. Work opportunities for dependent spouses are limited, particularly if they do not have a degree.
Medical
Full world-wide medical is provided for salaried overseas employees, dependent spouse and children, if insurance is not available through another source. Full-time undergraduate dependents are eligible for medical insurance through the school for the first four years following high school graduation.
Dental
Dental insurance is provided as part of the medical insurance plan.
Disability
Short term disability insurance is provided for employees after 14 consecutive days of medical leave which pays 70% of annual salary for up to two years. After that date it is possible to apply for long term disability
Other
Each faculty member is provided a school owned laptop computer for professional use while employed at the school. IPads are provided upon need.
Retirement
10% of salary paid in cash.
