About: Shenzhen Mingwan School

Shenzhen Mingwan School is redefining what a modern education can be. As a non-profit bilingual school offering kindergarten through secondary education, Mingwan is built on an ambitious vision: to nurture future-ready learners who are deeply rooted in Chinese heritage and prepared to thrive in a rapidly globalising world. Located in the heart of Shenzhen’s ‘Internet+’ Future Technology City, Mingwan is backed by the powerful alliance of the Chen Yidan Foundation, Tencent, and Shanghai Jingzhi. This trio brings together global educational networks, technological innovation, and pedagogical excellence to support every aspect of the school’s development.

At Mingwan, education is not a static process – it is a living, evolving experience. The school was founded at a pivotal moment in global education, where advances in artificial intelligence, growing concerns about mental health, and urgent conversations around sustainability demand bold, forward-thinking approaches. Teachers at Mingwan are empowered to engage with these challenges head-on, with the backing of cutting-edge resources, international research partnerships, and a progressive educational philosophy that values creativity, inclusion, and student agency. For educators seeking purpose, innovation, and a supportive community, Mingwan offers not just a job, but a meaningful career journey.

Ethos: Shenzhen Mingwan School

Mingwan’s ethos is grounded in its values: kindness (善良), strength (强身), inclusion (包容), and creativity (创造). These aren’t just words on a wall – they are lived values that shape the school culture, classroom practice, and professional development. At Mingwan, education is not confined to textbooks or test scores. It is about cultivating compassionate, capable individuals who are equipped to think critically, act ethically, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the world beyond.

The school stands at the crossroads of tradition and transformation. Drawing on the richness of Eastern and Western educational traditions, Mingwan aims to prepare students not just for university or careers, but for a lifetime of learning and growth. Teachers are encouraged to explore interdisciplinary learning, integrate experiential opportunities, and embrace emerging technologies – such as AI-powered personalisation tools – without losing sight of the human connections that underpin powerful teaching and learning. With deep support from its founding institutions, including access to world-renowned educational researchers and platforms, Mingwan is committed to professional growth, reflection, and innovation at every level of the school.

Facilities: Shenzhen Mingwan School

Mingwan’s campus is a physical expression of its educational philosophy: open, connected, and future-focused. Spanning over 40,000 square meters with more than 59,000 square meters of planned built space, the school features three cutting-edge academic buildings, a purpose-built kindergarten, a multifunctional sports complex, and residential halls for up to 600 students. Designed by global architecture leaders Perkins&Will, the campus blends natural beauty with the latest in learning design.

The facilities are not just impressive in scale – they are intentionally designed to support immersive, collaborative, and interdisciplinary learning. Classrooms are equipped for dynamic teaching and integrated technology use. Sports and arts spaces support a balanced student experience, while flexible learning environments encourage curiosity and exploration. From innovative maker spaces to peaceful green areas, Mingwan’s campus is a place where both students and teachers are inspired to imagine and create. For educators, it offers the tools – and the space – to bring big ideas to life.
