Norfolk House School is a mixed, independent primary school for children aged 3-11, occupying a large period house in Edgbaston, Birmingham.   The history of Norfolk House School dates back more than 70 years. Originally called Garry House School, it moved to its present location in 1963 and was re-founded in 1967 as Norfolk House School.

The school is now owned by the Challinor family, a member of which has been on the board of directors since 1967.

Headmistress

Mrs Susannah Palmer

Values and vision

Inspiring, achieving, and supporting are key components of Norfolk House School’s vision. In its Mission Statement, the school states its aim to encourage its pupils to develop “an enquiring mind within a family environment where they feel valued, fulfilled, confident and emotionally literate.” The school limits its intake to ensure that class numbers are small enough to allow close personal attention to be given to every pupil and to maintain very high standards of work.

The school aims to offer not only a first-rate academic education, but also a complete social education which emphasises good manners, mutual respect and self-discipline. Opportunities to develop social responsibility extend beyond the classroom with participation in visits and schemes designed to broaden pupils’ horizons.

ISI

“The outcomes for children are outstanding. Most children, including the more able, make excellent progress in line with their ability and from their individual starting points. Effective teaching provides children with interesting learning activities and, combined with the high level of care afforded by the dedicated staff, enables children to achieve high standards.”

Since signing up with Schrole we have been very impressed by the customer service, the modern-looking online platform, the absence of placement fees, and the various other Schrole products that we may be able to benefit from in the future. We have filled a number of positions this year with candidates from Schrole, during a particularly difficult recruitment year for us. The customer service is terrific. It seems that Schrole is leading the way in moving teacher recruitment into the 2020's.
