The United School of Tokyo is a unique international school founded by parents and teachers in central Tokyo. At UST, families and educators have come together to provide affordable, quality educational choices for families in Tokyo. We are here to help build a better future for children living in Japan and across the globe.
We currently serve children 3-14 years old.
UST believes that schools should provide an individualized approach to education and focus on the "whole child" by addressing every child's social-emotional, physical, and academic needs. Therefore, the school employs a holistic, inquiry-based approach to teaching, focusing on hands-on learning and outdoor education. In addition, we believe in the importance of creating opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom by taking them on field trips, community walks, service trips, and frequently organizing scholastic and cultural events at school.
UST is now welcoming applications for midyear positions and the 2024-25 school year. Along with selected positions for our elementary school and middle school team. We are currently working with Inquiry Schools (https://www.inquiryschools.org/) to create a progressive, inquiry-based middle school program. The middle school teachers continue to develop and build our middle school program as it grows.
We are especially looking for passionate, progressive educators who are excited about the possibility of building their dream middle school from the start. If you are an enthusiastic self-starter with great ideas who can persevere in the exciting environment of an expanding school - this is the place for you. We welcome your application and look forward to meeting you!

When we had a teacher decide to take another job in mid-July, we were left with few options. Historically, it was a tough position to fill. Within 24 hours of posting the position on Schrole, we were able to offer a contract to a more-qualified educator.
