Job Overview: MYP Design Teacher

Start Date: September 2025
Location: Ntare Louisenlund International School, Rwanda
Join the School of the Future at Ntare Louisenlund International School in the heart of Rwanda!
We are seeking a creative and forward-thinking MYP Design Teacher to join our dynamic, boarding school community. If you're passionate about guiding students through hands-on learning, problem-solving, and ethical innovation, we’d love to hear from you!
This is a full-time position teaching MYP Design within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP).

Why Ntare Louisenlund?
Located in the culturally rich and scenic Bugesera District, Ntare Louisenlund offers a supportive, future-focused learning environment where creativity, collaboration, and inclusion are core values. Our brand-new, state-of-the-art campus is designed for educators and learners to thrive in a high-tech, holistic educational experience.
Note: While IB MYP certification is preferred, it is not required—comprehensive IB training will be provided.
Your Challenge and Responsibilities
As an MYP Design Teacher, you will:
  • Empower students to become ethical creators and innovative problem-solvers.
  • Guide learners through the Design Cycle—inquiry, development, creation, and evaluation.
  • Encourage risk-taking, iteration, and design thinking in authentic, student-driven projects.
  • Foster interdisciplinary connections across STEM, arts, and social impact learning.
  • Implement a blend of hands-on making, digital design (CAD/CAM), and real-world prototyping.
  • Liaison with our partnership programs to ensure proper implementation per contract obligations
In classes of up to 24 students, you will emphasize:
  • Differentiated, student-centered learning strategies
  • Flipped and blended classroom approaches
  • Real-world, project-based assessments aligned with GRASPS

You will also mentor students in:

  • Self-regulated learning and reflection
  • Effective and ethical technology use
  • Independent inquiry and meaningful collaboration
Majority of our students are highly motivated scholarship recipients selected through national exams—making your role as a mentor, innovator, and guide truly transformative.
Your Profile
We are looking for educators who:
  • Are dynamic, flexible, and solutions-oriented
  • Value the power of diversity, equity, and student agency
  • Thrive in a startup school environment with room to shape culture and curriculum
  • Embrace STEM integration, global learning, and inquiry-based pedagogy

Qualifications and Expectations
  • Certified teacher with relevant teaching experience (IB MYP or DP preferred)
  • Background in Product Design, Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or Maker Education
  • Strong skills in CAD, digital design, or fabrication tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting)
  • Fluency in English and confident instructional use of digital platforms
  • Passion for mentoring young innovators and change-makers
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaborative growth
What We Offer
  • A purpose-built, future-focused campus in one of Africa’s most vibrant and visionary countries
  • Ongoing professional development, including IB certification training
  • Small class sizes for deep engagement and personalized learning
  • Robust co-curricular and leadership development programs
  • Collaboration with Stiftung Louisenlund, our renowned partner school in Germany
  • A growth-oriented and mission-driven staff community
  • Competitive salary in Rwandan Francs (RWF)
