We are increasing the number of British teachers at our school. As a result, we are looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Biology teacher for September 2025 with experience of teaching their subject in preparation for (i)GCSE and A level exams. Applicants must hold a UK passport.
The British School Algiers, the first British international school in Algeria, opened in November 2020 following the signing of a joint agreement between the Algerian and British governments and is now in its fifth year of operation.
In May 2025 the school was awarded BSO (British Schools Overseas) accreditation.
We are a 4 to 18 years school, and follow the English National Curriculum tailored to an international school setting. Students follow Cambridge International IGCSE and A level courses.
Candidates must hold a BEd/PGCE and DfE QTS accreditation (Department for Education Qualified Teacher Status). They must also have experience of either teaching iGCSE and A level Biology in the UK or an accredited British international school. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) will not be considered.
We are committed to ensuring excellent teaching and learning in a caring and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively, ready to play their part in building strong relationships with all members of the school community.
Algiers is a bustling, friendly, cosmopolitan city on the Mediterranean, full of historical interest and within easy reach of the UK and Europe. Life for teachers is pleasant with a low cost of living and good shops, cafes, and restaurants. Teachers are able to save a good proportion of their salary and, at the same time, enjoy exploring Algeria. Most personal and household items can be purchased in Algiers.
You will find the school a rewarding and friendly place to work and relationships between staff and students are good.

I have been a school-level user of Schrole for recruiting for the last three hiring cycles and have found the platform they provide to be intuitive and comprehensive. The user interface stands out from others in the market as a crisp interface with the right level of features included at the right places. For me, the top two features are the ability to create school-specific application questions for applicants, and the availability of a short and long form applicant documentation PDF. If you’re looking for a recruiting platform, I highly recommend considering Schrole.
